Macau General Post Office is one of the landmarks at the central Macau peninsula, located at the popular Senado Square near Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro. The post office was designed by a local architect, José Chan and constructed in 1929. The headquarters building has 3 storeys and featured with neoclassicism architectural elements. It served as an important connection for postal services with Portugal in the past and with the world nowadays.
The water fountain at Senado Square outside the post office was completed in 1993 for replacing the old one to cope with the new plaza design. It is still one of the signatures at the square where people gather and rest. The center of which is a celestial globe statue symbolizing the Portuguese expedition. The statue can also be seen on the Portuguese National flag.
In this drawing, the main cores of the post office building and the celestial globe statue are fused to emphasise the importance of these landmarks.
